Breaking generational trauma

This piece is about breaking generational trauma. To best represent the theme, I chose to work with roses. The link between roses and breaking generational trauma is deeply symbolic, representing the endurance and beauty that emerges from overcoming painful histories. In therapeutic and psychological healing, the rose serves as a powerful metaphor for the cycle of trauma and the deliberate journey toward healing.  The thorns on a rose represent the protection mechanisms, pain, and struggles inherited from ancestors. Breaking generational trauma involves acknowledging these "thorns" without judgment, allowing the beautiful petals of the rose to represent the resilience, grace, and love passed down instead. Much like a rosebush that requires deep, healthy roots to bloom, healing involves understanding your family's history and consciously choosing which roots to nourish and which to prune. Healing from generational trauma—or being the "cycle breaker" in your family—is a profound act of courage. It involves recognizing unhelpful patterns and intentionally cultivating a legacy of emotional health and safety. I chose to work with soft colors to best represent the "soft love" and kindness needed to break the cycle. Thank you Jessica for sharing your story with me. 

This piece is one of the thirty (30) pieces I created for the growth collection. This collection focuses on growth, represented by florals. It’s about learning from failures, adapting & embracing challenges. 

For the first time ever, this collection is a collaboration between my patrons, followers, and me. In May 2026, I asked anyone interested to share with me an ability, value, purpose or mindset that they were working on or recently acquired, demonstrating their personal growth and healing. I was absolutely grateful from all the responses I got and the inspiration came overflowing. Based on personal growth and healing, I think we collectively changed.

Personal growth is wonderful, collective growth is magical and I believe in sharing our journeys and uplifting each other.
