Know your wrongs

This piece is about knowing your wrongs, acknowledging your errors and overcoming the fear of failing because from it emerges growth. To best represent this ability, I decided to work with a magpie skull. Magpies are a great symbol of self-awareness and reflection. They are among the few animal species capable of passing the mirror self-recognition test. Metaphorically, this mirrors the act of introspection : recognizing your own flaws, being honest with yourself, and taking a hard look in the mirror to realize when you have made a mistake. Magpies are also a symbol of curiosity. As members of the corvid (crow) family, magpies are famously inquisitive and known to collect and swap out shiny items for better ones. Metaphorically, a magpie's approach to truth means being open to new information, "stealing" better ideas, and seamlessly discarding old, incorrect beliefs when presented with better facts. This piece is one of the thirty (30) pieces I created for the growth collection. This collection focuses on growth, represented by florals. It’s about learning from failures, adapting & embracing challenges. 

For the first time ever, this collection is a collaboration between my patrons, followers, and me. In May 2026, I asked anyone interested to share with me an ability, value, purpose or mindset that they were working on or recently acquired, demonstrating their personal growth and healing. I was absolutely grateful from all the responses I got and the inspiration came overflowing. Based on personal growth and healing, I think we collectively changed.

Personal growth is wonderful, collective growth is magical and I believe in sharing our journeys and uplifting each other.
