To best represent this ability, I decided to work with a magpie skull. Magpies are a great symbol of self-awareness and reflection. They are among the few animal species capable of passing the mirror self-recognition test. Metaphorically, this mirrors the act of introspection : recognizing your own flaws, being honest with yourself, and taking a hard look in the mirror to realize when you have made a mistake. Magpies are also a symbol of curiosity. As members of the corvid (crow) family, magpies are famously inquisitive and known to collect and swap out shiny items for better ones. Metaphorically, a magpie's approach to truth means being open to new information, \"stealing\" better ideas, and seamlessly discarding old, incorrect beliefs when presented with better facts.
